I must’ve picked the most beautiful day thus far to visit the Mural Mile. The sun was shining Philadelphians were roaming the streets with their dogs and the murals along miscellaneous parking lot brick walls were more magnificent than usual, I presume. The murals provide a nice sense of restored space in the area. The effort that went into these massive pieces is amazing.
That being said, my favorite piece was a not-so-flashy one. It was the one outside of Dirty Frank’s bar rightly entitled, “Dirty Frank’s.” I’ve recently been getting into and researching some of Banksy’s work and this mural reminded me a lot of him. The faces were stenciled on distortions of random faces and food items including a hot dog. It was the first mural I came across and it was accidently as I was trying to figure out the map. I found it to be comical and sentimental at the same time which is why it was my favorite piece along this mural mile, although they all had meaning and  beauty behind them.
